Not dubious, downright blatant actually.
POINT 1
Even though we are only given bits and pieces of their story, we know they have a past. A very sordid one. Subaru and Seishiro were very close friends. But again fate steps in and they are forced to become enemies. Yet like Kamui, Subarus attachment to Seishiro keeps him from truly hurting him for a long time. Despite the murder of his sister, Subaru could never hate Seishiro, and even wished for the loss of his right eye, just like Seishiro.
Fuuma helps him with that rather odd request and later tells Seishiro abut it. Fuuma: He (Subaru) wished for the loss of his right eye, just like you.
Fuuma: But his real wish was something only you (Seishiro) can grant.
(what could it be?..) Fuuma: His real wish was something very different from your own. (Again..what?)
POINT 2
Subaru and Seishiro finally meet on a bridge for their first and only fight in the series. Ths fight was wrought with yaoi ness. EX 1:Seishiro: So we finally meet Subaru. You haven't changed a bit. Still cute as ever. EX 2:During the fight, Seishiro call up a spell that creates sakura tree vines and uses them to tie up Subaru. Now there are so many techniques he could have used. Why that one? EX 3: As we know, Seishiro killed Suabru's sister Hokuto. Keeping this in mind: Seishiro: Wasn't it your wish to kill me? (One would think) Subaru: No you are mistaken. (Then what is it?)
POINT 3
Subaru's sister Hokuto's premonition as she dies is also interesting. Hokuto: Subaru is the only one who can kill you, and you are the only one who can kill him.
Again this quote is perpetrating the concept of only being killed or killing the one closest to you and no one else. A little bit of a stretch, but that's just something to mull over.
POINT 4
As Subaru's and Seishiro's fight draws to a close, they being to talk, reveal their true motives & feelings.
POINT 5
After Seishiro's death, Subaru continues holding his body for a long time afterwards. Later Kamui says something about that. Kamui: You wanted to stay there didn't you? By his side. Just like I would if I was ever killed by Fuuma.
That quote can work for both Kamui x Fuuma and Subaru x Seishiro.
POINT 6
In the very last few episodes, we see Subaru sulking after the death of Seishiro. The Chi no Ryu dreamgazer notices this and comments on it. Dreamgazer: The apocalypse has no importance to you because your one wish has gone.
The dreamgazer relates his own loss with that if Subaru's. He was in love with Subaru's sister Hokuto. So when she died his dream to be with her died as well. Dreamgazer: The one I love does not exist anymore. It's the same with you.

times 'appearing' wherever
Subaru is. Subaru also
doesn't seem to mind the
very unplatonic touches that
Seishiro bestoes upon him
unless someone(his sister)
comments on it. Often times
he doesn't even notice!
